Mommy Fashion: Night Out with Blockmates

Saturday was one of those rare times I have a night out with my college blockmates. We planned to eat at Yakimix so I planned on buffet friendly clothes... A garterized skirt, loose top and cardigan are all great ways to disguise the flab.

I also wanted to wear my new booties. My sister-in-law, C, and I have similar taste in clothes and shoes. When we saw these shoes, we immediately wanted to try it on. The salesman informed us that it was all out in size 9 which, coincidentally, is both our shoe size. After looking around, we came back again for the shoes and insisted they double check their stocks again. Lo and behold, they came back with size 9 and 10 in all colors. C got the shoes in black and I got it in gray. As a bonus, we only paid 700 pesos what we thought was 1000 pesos shoes. Our persistence paid off! Yahoo!

Taipei 2011: What We Wore

Of course I was mega-excited for J's first trip abroad.  His outfits were planned in advance with matching accessories.  As if he cared. haha  I just wore what was comfortable and hopefully, I didn't appear too frumpy.  

Day 1: 

Taipei greeted us with cool, windy weather and I'm so glad I came well prepared with sweaters and long sleeved shirts for the little boy.  I got paranoid that he might get sick on his first day so we really bundled him up warmly for his first day of adventure.

Weekend Haul!

The last weekend brought a shower of new things, some gifted and some I bought myself. 

Little J is the first grandson on both E and my family.  Naturally, he is showered with blessings (spoiled rotten) by his doting grandparents, aunts and uncles.  My youngest sister, I, is studying in Taiwan as part of Ateneo's Junior Term Abroad program and sent some goodies over for J and I.  Thank you Shobe!!! 

I am super lucky to have a mom who has nice taste in clothes.  She bought me this blue cardigan because she knows I love cover-ups!   

My mom-in-law also had pasalubong from her vacation.  A big tote bag for all the things I drag around all day and a basic striped shirt in my favorite color.  So thoughtful of her, I started using the bag at once!  I forgot to take a picture of the nice jeans she got for J.  

I am always on the lookout for red (or anything in that palette) clothes.  My closet is filled with neutral colors like black, gray and navy blue, and I really do not have anything to wear when there are birthdays or parties we need to attend.  

I am so happy I found these three dresses this weekend.  What could be easier to wear than dresses, right?  No more struggling to match your tops and bottoms!   Major score! 

No more shopping for myself until next year! :)  Do comment if you have tips on where to buy nice gifts for the inaanak!   Time to start shopping for Christmas! 

Mommy Fashion: Cheap Alternatives

I've been eyeing this mustard and white sleeveless polo from Topshop and Dorothy Perkins for the last couple of months.  However, my kuripotness can't seem to fork over P2000 for such a simple top.  On a trip to the department store to buy some essentials, I passed by the ladies section and saw a dupe for the polo I wanted,  It was 1/4 of the cost! So so so happy!  I love bargains. hahahaha Anyway, who doesn't right?  I immediately got one in my size, went into the dressing room and was happy that it fitted me perfectly.

Mommy Fashion: Sensible Separates

As of late, my fashion choices is greatly influenced by a little bundle of terror I lovingly call my son. J is an extremely active 18 month old and anyone who takes care of a toddler also knows that it requires a lot of kneeling, crawling and running around. That means no to low cut tops, no to delicate garments, no to dangling earrings, no to wearing short skirts (unless I wear shorts underneath), no to high heels (unless I have yaya with me) and yes to comfy cotton tops, yes to cover-ups (vests and cardigans are heaven sent since they hide my bulges hehe), yes to shorts (it gets hot running after a kid), yes to sensible footwear!

My goal is to be comfortable but not look losyang!

What I wore to lunch and malling with my mom, sister and J:

Color blocking with an old blue tube top, Forever 21 lavender shorts and H&M denim vest.
